Young Audiences Luncheon a Success

For decades Young Audiences supporters could always count on getting dressed up for our annual benefit and coming to an elegant gala on a Saturday night with tickets costing $150 or more.   This year Young Audiences tried a new approach with a Friday luncheon.  No tuxedos or ball gowns. Tickets were $50.

Young Audiences hosted well over 300 people at the November 12th luncheon, titled A Gift of the Arts.  Attendees bought almost every piece of art for sale at the young artists market.  Grab bags were offered with surprise contents, and every single one sold for $25 each.  Verb Ballets entertained guests with a beautiful dance in brilliant red costumes.  Afterward the dance company and 2nd grade students from Captain Arthur Roth K-8 School in Cleveland did a demonstration of Verb’s dance and literacy program called Wiggle Words.  The guests were able to witness an example of the important work that Young Audiences does for students in our community.

This year we were able to attract many new friends at our Friday luncheon, and we exceeded our fund raising goal by raising $35,000. Thank you to all the individuals and corporations who attended A Gift of the Arts.

Don’t worry, for those of you who love the evening gala, we have not given up on them forever!  Save the date for our next one on June 11, 2010, to be held at a private home in Shaker Heights.  You won’t want to miss it.
